Cooking Round the World Camp

A cooking camp for kids 7 - 13 who want a "taste" of the world!

Cooking Round the World camp gives boys and girls ages 7 - 13 the opportunity to learn about countries 'round the world by cooking…. and eating! From appetizers to soups and salads, from entrees to desserts and drinks, children will learn cooking skills while experiencing a country's culinary flavors. Each class begins will an educational hour where children learn where a country is located, traditions and customs, dress, games, music and language. All children receive a Cooking Round the World apron and binder which contains information about the country and recipes.

Oakland Location:

June 18 – 22: France, Denmark, Jamaica, Korea, Argentina 4 spots available

June 25 – 29: Italy, India, Israel, China, Spain FILLED

August 6 – 10: Lebanon, Mexico, Japan, Greece, Germany plenty of spaces available!

August 13 – 17: Thailand, Morocco, Sweden, Ireland, Cuba plenty of spaces available!

Alameda Location:

(In the Temple Israel Kitchen located at 3183 Mecartney Road on Alameda's Harbor Bay Island.)

August 13 – 17: Finland, Trinidad, Scotland, Portugal, Cambodia plenty of spaces available!

8 - 9 AM	Pre-care option for $50/week
9 - 10 AM	Slide presentation about the day's country, hand out for insertion in binder, listening to music from that country, play a game from that country, learn a few words from that country's language, etc
10 - 12 AM	Cook/bake 4 - 7 dishes. Hands on prep in small groups
12 - 1 PM	Eat and clean up. 1:00 pickup

Costs A one week session at the Oakland or Alameda location costs $200 and includes an apron, a recipe binder and lunch. Pre-care is $50/week

Payment, Cancellations, Wait lists:

• 5% discount given for registration of more that one week.
• Payment is required in full at the time of registration, no exceptions. You may register online at www.cookingroundtheworld.com and an invoice will be sent to you. Your child is not registered until payment is received.
  
• Payment can be made in cash or check payable to "Cooking Round the World" and sent to: Cooking Round the World, 6657 Gunn Drive, Oakland, CA 94611.
  
• You have 2 weeks from date of payment to cancel camp for a full refund. Cancellation one month prior to the onset of camp receives half refund; thereafter no refund.
  
• Should a class be cancelled because of too few sign ups, a full refund will be given or enrollment can roll over to another camp week. The minimum class enrollment is 6.
  
• Camp registration is on a first come/first served basis. Class size is limited to 16 children per week.
  
• Since space is limited, you can request to be placed on a wait list and you will be notified should space become available.
  
• Cooking 'Round the World camp ends at 1pm. Late pick ups (more than 10 minutes) will be charged $25 each late day.

The Kehilla Synagogue Kitchen is located at 1300 Grand Avenue, Piedmont, CA 94610. Enter kitchen door from parking lot.

From Oakland and South on 580: Take 580 West to GRAND AVE. Exit and turn left at the light. Continue up Grand Ave. for 8-10 blocks. We're on the right, just past the Ace Hardware.

From Oakland and South on 880:
Go north on 880 to Oakland. Take 980 to 580 East. Exit on GRAND AVE. Turn left and go under the freeway. Continue up Grand Ave. for 8-10 blocks. We're on the right, just past the Ace Hardware.

Alameda Location:

The Temple Israel Kitchen is located at 3183 Mecartney Road on Alameda's Harbor Bay Island.

From Alameda's main island take Otis; cross the Harbor Bay bridge; turn right onto Island Drive; right on Mecartney. Turn right again into the shopping center parking lot and an immediate left into the first arm of the parking lot. Drive to the end. Temple Israel is at the end of the parking lot.
